Since 1964, the Ouachita County Historical Society has  promoted  and  supported  the McCollum-Chidester  House  Museum  in  Camden  as  an educational and nonprofit institution. Today, the society maintains several historical sites in Ouachita County, including the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Lookout, Scott Cemetery, the Leake-Ingham Building and others. In addition to maintaining these sites, OCHS has been involved in a number of restoration projects. Maintenance of these wonderful historic areas and various restoration projects are heavily dependent on several annual fundraisers as well as contributions to OCHS.

McCollum-Chidester House Museum and the Leake-Ingham Building are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places and are open year-round  for guided tours. Museum hours are 9 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Saturday. The museum is closed Sunday through Tuesday. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students.

Historical Society meetings are held four times a year at 6:30 p.m. on the third Mondays in March, June, and September and the first Monday in December.  Meetings are open to the public.

Annual individual membership dues are $25. Membership is for one year, based on the date of original membership, and members are entitled to four issues of The Quarterly.  Membership forms  for new members or member renewals may be found by clicking below:  (Get Adobe Reader)
